INSEAD: Art of Communication
The last Weekend ended without any surprises. I had a Class on Saturday and Sunday. It was a course/workshop to improve one's Communicating and Presentation Skills. The best part of it was that it was worth half a credit and lasted only for 2 days.
The Teacher/coach was Steve Knight a British guy with a very strong voice projection and posture. He came to Singapore to teach the INSEAD MBA students how to make better presentations and generally give advices. Before the course each one had to read some articles and watch some podcasts(www.steveknight.tv). The course consisted only of 30 people more or less. Fourtunately the structure was simple. We were divided in 6 teams of 5 persons.
In the beginning everyone had to make a presentation, speech, of about 1 minute about any topic. I talked about babel. According to the feedback i got, I should speak slower and more clearly. My stage pressence is allrigth and My passion levels quite high.
Afterwards everytime would need to prepare a presentation no more than 15 minutes about a specific topic. Our Group consisted of : Molly Fitzpatrick, a very talented trilingual American. Maria Raga Frances, a consultant not oly sharp as a blade but also another linguistic. Jean batiste a french guy born to be cool. Tushar Harduley, a IT Indian. Our group would talk about google. To cut a long story short our first presentation was ok. I got some feedback from my team. they were the ones who really helped me to get better. At the beginning they were very critical and they weren't helping.
They saw they were having a negative effect on me and they changed their approach. Our second presentation was very beneficial and more professional. I think i became better through this course. I strongly recommend it to everyone.
