The Singapore INSEAD campus finally had its summer ball. It wasn’t as glamorous or as important as the equivalent in

France

,

Fontainebleau

. Unfortunately I couldn’t (didn’t have the chance to) go to the Summer Ball in

France

. The summer ball in

France

traditionally is also where the

Reunion

for various classes takes place (normally for the 5 and 10 year reunions).

The summer Ball was held on the 9^th of June in

Singapore

. Partners(wives/girlfriends or current INSEAD students) organized the event. The venue was the China Club on the 52^nd floor at the Capital tower. The theme of the ball(if you haven’t guessed it yet) was Chinese. The atmosphere and the ambience suited the 1930s shanghai dresses and suits. The dress code was either Chinese/Mandarin suits or dresses (CheongSams) or Western style Suits. The attendees were more than 170 people, most of them students/guests, faculty. The Guests of honor were the Italian ambassador and the Brazilian (I may be wrong).

The ball started with cocktails, followed by a traditional Chinese dinner, where everybody sits around a round table and has a set dinner. To be honest I didn’t select in time my table so I ended with people I didn’t know. The food was ok, not something extraordinary.  I am sucker for live Jazz band which played for about 1 hour after dinner was over. The dance floor was swamping with couples trying to show their dance skills, while the rest were enjoying a drink over the bar.

The setting was really enjoyable and the view was awesome. One could see the whole of

Singapore

from the perch. Believe me

is truly a nice scene to watch. The skyscrapers are spread over the city and when their lights are on they enhance the scenery. This event was organized by P3s for P3s. If I am not mistaken there were not more than 4 P5s there(including myself).

I felt sad because I realized that it IS over! 2 more weeks left before I return to the “real” world. It felt like the P3s were saying to us(p5s), your time is over Now let us run the place. The only consolidation was that I looked(according to feedback I got) like a mafia guy in my black mandarin suit. I combed my hair according to my role and the ending result was better than expected. Unfortunately I have no picks because my camera broke down (after 1 year of extensive use). My father will gloat once again by stressing that “All my electronic devices have a very short life span”. It seems I cannot refute his agreements.

The ball finished at 2.00 Am and afterwards every1 returned home(Yeah, right!)
